Hebrews 3:19 states “So we see that they were not able to enter, because of their unbelief.” Many times I find people who say it’s impossible to really go All- In. Some of the Israelites failed to go All-In and suffered the consequences.
In 3:19 Paul points out why their hearts could not be changed, why they consistently sinned and rebelled: “So we see that they could not enter in because of unbelief.” Paul breaks this down to us later in a warning in Hebrews 4:1-2 when he says “Therefore, since a promise remains of entering His rest, let us fear lest any of you seem to have come short of it. For indeed the gospel was preached to us as well as to them; but the word which they heard did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in those who heard it.”
The children of Israel had living examples of 1) the faith of Moses, 2) demonstrations of God’s presences and power such as the parting of the Red Sea, manna, water from a rock, etc., and 3) the Word of God by His servants Moses and Aaron. Yet despite all this proof many chose not to fully believe. Thus, Hebrews 3:17 says He was angry with them forty years! If ever a people almost drove God to the point of enough is enough, it was the wilderness Israelites.
“For whatever things were written before were written for our learning, that we through the patience and comfort of the Scriptures might have hope” (Romans 15:4).
The lesson is clear. Those who are ALL IN and believe God reveal their faith by obeying Him. Those who do not believe, disobey. Are you making Christ real to all you meet by showing His love?
