No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it. (1 Corinthians 10:13 NIV84)
In other words nothing in the flesh confronting you is unique. We all think “nobody knows the troubles.” Yet, God makes clear your troubles are actually quite common. More importantly, God makes clear He is faithful even in the midst of your issues to provide you not just spiritual salvation but also practical salvation from wherever you find yourself stuck. Christ in you gives you the ability to stand up to it because He did. His Spirit living in you leads you to your escape if you listen and then act. For example, you are about to go out and party instead of completing an assignment due the next day. The phone rings and you see it’s your mom, friend, cousin who will ask you how things are going. The escape path is to answer the phone – yet, so often, we choose to ignore the call and say I’ll call them later. So out you go. Later we complain about the negative results on the project – completely forgetting our chance to escape the bad result. As you go all-in are you taking advantage of your escape routes provided? Who do you think put it in their mind to call you?
